Pie Chart

A pie chart is a circular statistical graphical chart that is divided into slices to explain or illustrate numerical proportions. Pie charts are widely used in presentations and office documents. In the Pie chart the data is shown in percent, do if you have the numerical information in your table, the diagram will convert it into the percent by dividing the circle into proportional segments. For example, there are several groups of people in a firm and your task is to compare each group’s contribution to the whole.

Here is the info you need to compare.

This is how it is converted into a pie chart.

After setting up the needed info for the pie chart, you’d probably look for a way to customize its appearance. To do so, you need to move to the Layout tab.

You can enable the Auto size option to automatically set up the size of a diagram or turn off the option and set the size manually in the newly appeared section.

Enable/disable the Show title checkbox.  Change the color and the size of the title of your diagram.

Here you can hide/show the legend, and change its location(furthermore, the location of the legend can be changed easily by dragging and dropping just right in the preview).

Check the  Use custom colors option if there is a need to change the color of the diagram’s items.

Layout

The Advanced setting section has more customization options for the pie chart.

The Number of charts per row numeric field displays multiple charts. You need to specify the number of charts per line.

Set the fraction of the radius to cut out of the pie in the Donut hole numeric field. Use this to make a donut chart. The number between or equal to 0 and 1.

There are two types of direction: counterclockwise and clockwise in the Direction dropdown.

Specify the location of the text info in the Text position field.

Inside text orientation is the option that allows controlling the orientation of the text inside chart sectors.

When set to Auto text may be oriented in any direction to be as big as possible in the middle of a sector.

The Horizontal option orients text to be parallel with the bottom of the chart and may make text smaller to achieve that goal.

The Radial option orients text along the radius of the sector.

The Tangential option orients text perpendicular to the radius of the sector.

The next option is called Text info. It determines which trace information appears on the graph. They are label, value, percent.

The Hover info section is responsible for the data that will be displayed on the chart on hover. They are label, valued, percent, name.

What’s even more, Y-Axis and X-Axis of the diagrams created with the help of the Data Tables plugin can be changed directly in the preview mode by just moving them. Moreover, you can change the title of the axis just hover on them and click to set the title.
